Just Metal and Stone or a Phenomenon?
Sadhguru explains how the Linga Bhairavi Yantras are extensions of the mularupa at Linga Bhairavi. The way we approach Devi and relate to her creates the right situation for one to experience her, he explains.

Question: Namaskaram Sadhguru. We were fortunate enough to receive a Devi Yantra from you last year. She has completely transformed our home, and she is actually transforming lives in our neighborhood too. There are people who, whether they have to deal with family situations or a divorce or health issues, will come and sit in the Devi room. I am just stunned to see her grace. She has revved it up quite a bit for me, but I am still wondering, how to earn more of her grace?

தேவி யந்திரம் சாதாரண கருவியா? பிரமாதமான தன்மையா?

Sadhguru: The processes that have been taught to you work best if you make Devi your priority. This is not just so with Devi, this is so with anything subjective. Even for a love affair to work, it is a question of priorities. If you regard something or someone as far more important than yourself, that dimension becomes beautiful for you. But if you do that with people, we do not know how mature the other person is. A man who looks at a tree and thinks this is wood may look at a woman and think this is sex, nothing more. The basic consciousness has been trained in such a way that if you see something, you think of how useful it could be to you, in the sense, "What is the takeaway for me?"

A Devi yantra is a powerful energy form that has no intention of its own. You are also an energy form, but you are not able to maintain a particular level of consciousness.

A Devi yantra is a powerful energy form that has no intention of its own. You are also an energy form, but you are not able to maintain a particular level of consciousness because the compulsions of your thoughts, your emotions, and your body will rule and contaminate your consciousness. You have seen this with human beings: one moment, they are so wonderful, next moment, they are shockingly horrible.

So we create a powerful form that has no concern about itself and no compulsiveness because this is a pure energy form. The physical form of mercury, copper, and stone is only a scaffolding to hold up the energy form. A yantra is a kind of machine. The Devi machine [yantra] and the Detroit machines [cars], both of them will take you places. The fundamental difference between an external machine and such an energy form is, the Devi yantra is a perpetual machine that does not need any real maintenance. You just need to create a certain atmosphere because Devi does not want to stay in an uncared-for space.

The Devi yantras are extensions of the mularupa, which means the original energy form, of Linga Bhairavi [next to the Isha Yoga Center]. You can create millions of such yantras across the planet. All of them will be alive as long as the original energy form is kept up in full vibrance. You must hold Devi as the highest entity in your home. If your home catches fire, the first thought on your mind should be how to save Devi. It is not a question of what you do, it is a question of what your priorities are. If Devi is a top priority for you, your receptivity will increase. If you think, "This is just some stone Sadhguru has given. Let's see what I will get out of it," at the most, your health will improve. If you become very healthy but you are otherwise a miserable human being, it is a disaster.

Two New York philosophers met in a bar. They started discussing the difference between a misfortune and a disaster. One of them said, "Right now, we are about to have dinner. Suppose the cook dies, you cannot call it a disaster. It is a misfortune not that he died, but that we cannot have our dinner. See, this is a takeaway world. But let us say all the congressmen of the United States were on a Caribbean cruise and the cruise ship sinks, that is a disaster, but by no stretch is it a misfortune." This is not my opinion.

If you see her as the highest priority, if you see her as higher than yourself, the kinds of things that will happen will be too phenomenal.

You just have to set your priorities straight. You go to a temple, church, or mosque because you believe that by going there, your life will be enhanced. In India, there are various ways to relate to God. You can relate to God as your father; you can relate to God as your mother; you can see God as your husband; you can see God as your lover; you can see God as your child; you can be a servant to God, or you can treat God as your servant, as the whole world does. There are specific practices and ways to be, depending on your choice of relating.

You can relate to Devi whichever way you want, but the important thing is, if you hold her as the highest priority in your home, she will function in a tremendous way. If you think, She is a tool. Let me leverage it for my benefit, she still works, but in a mediocre way. If you see her as the highest priority, if you see her as higher than yourself, the kinds of things that will happen will be too phenomenal. Logical minds can never, ever decipher how this works.

To the extent that you intensely relate to this simple, yet very powerfully reverberating form, to that extent it functions. If you relate to it, it becomes the most fabulous thing. To relate means you have become willing. This goes for everything in life, what is horrendous and what is fantastic is just a question of whether you go through it willingly or unwillingly. If you become willing towards something, it becomes a phenomenon.

Editor's note: The next Yantra Ceremony will be held at Isha Yoga Center on June 27, 2018. You will be initiated into a powerful process and receive the yantra directly from Sadhguru. For more details, click here or write to yantra@lingabhairavi.org.

There's no chance of her getting misused. See if you want to get things out of her (such as disturbing other people's lives) she won't function in that respect. For her to work at her highest, you yourself have to be absent. Therefore there is no question of her being used for negative purposes; she will function whichever way she is made.

I am sure Sadhguru would have taken care of it in some way, but isn't it a bit dangerous to give such a powerful thing to anyone who wishes for it? As many people have not reached a balance to know what material achievement is actually good for them without creating something undesirable for others or even themselves later on. And if the aim is to only ensure 'good for everybody' kind of overall prosperity then why is it so expensive so as to be out of reach except for the very well-off? Some answers would be helpful.

If someone else apart from the family members touches it will devi give bad happenings. Its not to be touched by anyone else right?

Hi gautam. As sadhguru says devi stays in a place where a certain care takes place . People usually dont get that commitment if something comes for free.

If I am right, Sadhguru has not told what will happen if any other person touches the yantra. But, Sadhguru is very specific it should not be touched by any one else. Actually, there is no need to worry about it, because this discipline happens automatically. My daughter who was just 7 years old when we received the yantra takes more care not to touch it.

Suppose it is given at the price of a keychain...would you take care of it in a similar way as a keychain or as something worth lakhs of rupees? We humans have this tendency to value things by its price. That is why it is priced so high in my opinion. This is probably serious stuff, and only serious people need to have it. Also, it helps raise funds for the ashram.

Sadhgu said in Kaattu poo that the Devi temple can also be used for Tantric Practices as he said he is not against it. Probably he might have done some preventive mechanisms energetically nso that Devi cannot be used for destructive purposes. Just assumption.

Well said sashank... agree with you. ..

But isn't the price tagged at 7 lakhs with the yantra and compulsory donation to ashram is unachievable for the general masses. I mean in india people face problem with daily survival how could some afford something like that.

I naturally believe in sadhguru's teachings and wisdom but something so expensive doesn't seem right if joy n happiness has to be spread then why put a price tag on it.

+ Sashank. The cost also has to do with the materials used. Devi Yanthra weighs a lot
about 25 kg. Copper and pure mercury are particularly expensive.

See the yantra is going to take care of your total well being ONLY if you are a true devotee. A true devotee, as sadhguru said is someone who has no stuff of his own. So if you think that lets say you want a ferrari and devi is going to give it to you, you are wrong. Devi will not function for you if you want to derive benefit from her. Only if you are a true devotee, she will make your life frictionless.

Also if you experience her grace, you will naturally become blissful and want to spread joy and peace in your surroundings. Also the yantra works for anyone and everyone around it. So if you have lets say avighna yantra, you are doing a social service by letting so many people around you experience her grace.

Yantra is expensive but for the right cause. Ashram is doing so many social activities including feeding people staying is ashram two times a day which costs around 30,000 per day! Don't judge sadhguru's decision of pricing the yantra high. After all, it is the only thing offered by isha which is this costly.

hope u got the clarity now gautham.. nice explanation sarthak.. as a person becomes a true devotee the thoughts in his mind also gets purified and naturally he prays for the joy only and never for any thing which could be dangerous even if he does it would not take effect.... for sure!!!!

What will happen if the yantra gets into wrong hands? Like someone(black magic people) who Will treat devi as the priority but has destructive thoughts for other people.....

4 years 3 months ago

Despite being a sincere seeker and doing my practices without a day's miss, witnessing Aadi yogi alayam consecration and experiencing Sadhguru's grace as well as the puissant presence of the Devi at the ashram, I still cannot relate to the need for designing these yantras. Sometimes, I think it's just a way to make the rich, richer; I also feel that for me my sadhana is the most important. Yet, I can vouch for the authenticity of the yantras, and I trust Sadhguru. Maybe he wants people to live in consecrated spaces. But most of these people will use these yantras as tools to become more prosperous materially. It might also arouse fear and superstition among them. But alas, Sadhguru knows best...
