Significance Of Navratri
The most powerful nine nights dedicated to the Devi, Navratri is celebrates the feminine nature of the Divine. Linga Bhairavi unites the three dimensions of the divine feminine that symbolizes the three basic qualities of existence – tamas, rajas, and sattva (symbolically represented as Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati). Three days are dedicated to each quality: the first two towards wellbeing and prosperity, and the third towards the aspiration to go beyond.
A set of 11 offerings are made to Linga Bhairavi three times a day (7:40 AM, 12:30 PM and 7:40 PM). As an appeal for Devi’s Grace, Abhishekam can be offered for yourself or others on any day of your choice, to honor a special occasion, or when facing challenging situations.
Devotees may give the names and nakshatras (definition list) of up to four family members, which will be written on a palm leaf and placed at Devi’s feet during the process. After the arati, the offerings are given back as prasadam.
Abhishekam can also be offered for individuals or families who are unable to be present at the process. Prasadam can be couriered upon request.
Sadhguru has created a special Navratri Sadhana for all, so they can become more receptive to Devi’s Grace.
Devotees can also offer Annadanam, a sacred offering of food, on any of the Navratri days.
My experience today at the Isha Yoga Center was most rewarding. I was amazed to see the response to classical music in this beautiful auditorium
Isha programs are so well thought out and so rare and so sacred, and to have the opportunity to steep yourself in that over 2 weeks period, that’s like no other opportunity in my mind.
