Live Life Exuberantly
On this Spot, Sadhguru shares what made this Mahashivratri “the most incredible night” for him, and how this can be an inspiration for all of us. Click through our slideshow, which captures a multitude of unforgettable moments of the event. Moreover, Sadhguru allows us a deeply intimate glimpse on how he relates to Shiva through seven pieces of verse. “I prided in a heart / Strong and stable as a Rock / Then He came uninvited, / made my heart Beat and Bleed / For every Creature and the Rocks.”
I have been at many events, but I have never been at one like this till now. This Mahashivratri was a night without parallel – the most incredible night. It was truly wonderful to see how everyone came together to make this happen. From our Prime Minister, who, in spite of his hectic schedule, came all the way from Uttar Pradesh for these two hours; the Special Protection Group, the Tamil Nadu police, and many government authorities, the local people who have been supporting us in many ways, the artists who kept the night alive, the media, our in-house teams, volunteers, residents, brahmacharis, everyone who has been fully on through the night – I wish to congratulate all of you for making this happen.
This night should be an inspiration for you to live a life that is truly exuberant, beyond the limits of body and mind. There is a way to function beyond the limitations of your body. There is a way to function beyond the limitations of your psychological structure. This is the way that we want to bring to the world. This is what Adiyogi represents. This is what the science of yoga is about. Our Prime Minister, who has been a Yoga Veera, a stalwart of yoga, before anyone else, has lit the Maha Yoga Yagna. As part of the endeavor of bringing the science of yoga to the world, we want to create one million Yoga Veeras who will impart a simple form of yoga to at least one hundred people in the next one year. That means there will be at least a hundred million new practitioners of yoga in the world before the next Mahashivratri.
I want every one of you to become a Yoga Veera and transmit simple tools of yoga to at least hundred people in the next twelve months. No matter how many hospitals we build, how much medical sciences develop, health is not going to happen unless each individual takes it in his or her own hands. Each one is responsible for their own wellbeing, for their own joy, and their own ultimate liberation. Governments, corporations, and administrations can provide infrastructure for wellbeing, but the source of wellbeing is within. Only in taking charge of our inner nature is there true liberation for Humans. We want to bring this realization and this possibility to every human being.
I prided in a heart
Strong and stable as a Rock
Then He came uninvited,
made my heart Beat and Bleed
For every Creature and the Rocks.
One hundred and twelve tricks
to beat the mortal coil
But trapped me in these tricks
The Wily One, now I am tricked
I can neither think nor do anything
that is for Me or of Me.
After having heard all the sweet sounds
After having seen all the Great sights
After knowing all the lovely sensations
I lost all my sense for Him, the One
Who is Not but IS like no other
He is not love
Nor is He compassion
Seek Him not for Comfort
For He is ultimate Fruition.
Come know the nameless
Ecstasies of the formless One
Not the joys of fulfillment
This is a game of Self Demise
Are you a sport for a game of No-returns
Don’t you trust the Still One
He drew Me in with his Stillness
Me thought He was the way
Be warned He is the End.
Will you be there for
your funeral and the Grand
Cremation. The Fire Works
of the Cremation keeper. My Shiva
