The Abode of Yoga is a powerful energy source designed for anyone to enhance their wellbeing on all aspects of life. Simply sitting within the Abode allows one to reach an elevated state of consciousness and know yoga as an inner experience beyond mere knowledge, philosophy, or technique.

Sadhguru, a realized yogi and mystic, consecrated the Abode through a powerful yogic process – Prana Pratishtha (consecrating using life energies) – on September 23rd, 2015.

The Abode is also an expression of gratitude to Adi Yogi, the first yogi, who offered the yogic sciences to the world over 15,000 years ago. The profound methods offered at the Abode are in consonance with Adi Yogi’s work.

The Abode is available – beyond race, religion, or culture – to bring fulfillment and wellbeing to all. Visitors may become receptive to the energies and grace of the Abode through various offerings, processes and spending time meditating within the space.

Open year round, the Abode is the main feature of the Isha Institute, a leading center for inner exploration and complete wellbeing for the past 20 years.

About Adi Yogi

“Adiyogi has been brought into your life to see that a dimension which has no boundaries becomes a living reality in your life.” - Sadhguru

The Abode is also an expression of gratitude to Adi Yogi, the first yogi, who offered the yogic sciences to the world over 15,000 years ago. He brought technology and methods, not as a philosophy or teaching, as to how one can raise their energies and transform their lives into a great possibility. The profound methods offered at the Abode are in consonance with Adi Yogi’s work.

Originator of Yoga

Sadhguru: In the yogic culture, Adi Yogi is the originator of yoga. He was the one who first put this seed into the human mind. According to the yogic lore, over 15,000 years ago, Adi Yogi attained to his full enlightenment and abandoned himself in an intense ecstatic dance upon the Himalayas. When his ecstasy allowed him some movement, he danced wildly. When it became beyond movement, he became utterly still.

Science & Mysticism

Science of Yoga

It is estimated close to two billion people are using some kind of yogic system today in different forms that are not necessarily referred to as ‘yoga.’ The beauty of yoga is that it is an elaborate expression of human mechanics – whichever way you sit, stand, breathe, think or feel, for every aspect of your life, there is a type of yoga. Knowingly or unknowingly, millions of people across the planet are practicing some form of yoga because the process is simple, empowering, and effective.

Channelizing Modern Science and Technology

"This yogic science is of utmost importance now, like never before, because today we have tremendous power in our hands. With modern science and technology, tomorrow if we want, we can flatten a mountain or city. When we have this much power in our hands, it is very, very important that we have an inner sense, an awareness of life, and that we experience life and everyone as part of ourselves. Otherwise, we can create a calamity for ourselves and the world around us—which right now we are doing to some extent. This has happened only because we have attended only to the external science. We have never looked at the inner science within us. Just as there is an external science to create external wellbeing, there is an inner science to create inner wellbeing." – Sadhguru

Transcend Life's Struggles

Today many people perceive yoga as challenging postures, a trend for weight loss or merely a stress reliever, without realizing its depth and dimension. Sadhguru’s vision is to revive this ancient science in its purity and profoundness, and offer it to every individual.

He says, "If you are willing to strive, you can transcend all your limitations. We want this one message, which is over 15,000 years old, to reverberate across the planet. Whether everybody actually gets there or not, they should at least know that if they have the necessary focus, they can. I want this one message to reach every human being. No matter what they are going through in their lives – their struggles, frustrations, madness, longing – that if they are willing to strive, they can transcend all of this." - Sadhguru

Consecrated Space

As life is just energy manifested itself in various forms, a whole science of consecration is also about using these life energies and the manifested forms which could be of immense benefit and serve human well-being on various dimensions.

Testimonials

"This is an amazing space. I was never into religion but when I went there they were patiently explained to me how it was not religious but there was a scientific explanation of why everything is created and maintained the way it is. I felt very calm and meditative in this space."
