Yesterday’s pournami was a celebration in grand style. It was the 15th anniversary of Vijji’s Aradhana, the two-year anniversary of the Linga Bhairavi consecration, and Thaipoosam*. And we are offering a new sadhana for women which is being taught all over Tamil Nadu, in towns and villages. For a certain period of time, someone can take up this sadhana, and for a certain number of days, chant the Stuthi and do the Devi Dandam.** Then a handful of grains can be kept aside for Devi each day, and on this full moon day, these grains can be offered at the temple. It was beautiful to see so many come and make their offerings. The amount of devotion overflowing from all those who took part was absolutely incredible. Definitely, Devi is manifesting in miraculous ways.
So this sadhana is something we want to offer to everybody because devotion is the sweetest way to exist. It is the most intelligent way to live. What this means is, it is not about devotion to Devi or how many Devi Dandams you can do, it is about using devotion as a way to dissolve. Once you dissolve, once you empty yourself, Devi has no choice but to be with you. And if Devi is with you, I also have no choice.
Pregnant with a Divine form
As a man I break all norm
As a bee knows how to craft its hive
Seemingly aimless, does purposefully strive
Sting that can punch poisoned pain
Crafts sweetness that one’s dearest can only fain
This dark and fiery divine wench
You have no need that she cannot quench
Give yourself to the Three-Eyed One
In the world of maya you have won.
* Thaipoosam is a day when many wonderful beings, yogis and siddhas have chosen to attain.
** The Jai Bhairavi Stuthi is a chant with 33 auspicious names of Devi. The Devi Dandam is a certain prostration and is the best way to make yourself receptive to Her Grace.
