Christ and Christianity are almost synonymous. But in the name of the "Son of God", have we lost the essence of the incredible humanity that Jesus embodied? On the occasion of Christmas, Sadhguru reminds us of what it means to bring the spirit of Jesus into our hearts.

When we say “Jesus”, we are not referring to a man who lived 2000 years ago, but to a certain possibility within every human being. It is essential that every individual allows this quality to flower within him, because today in the name of religion, people are willing to take each other’s lives. In our aspirations for the divine, we are losing our Humanity.

The most significant aspect of Jesus’s teaching was about living without prejudice, without seeing who is yours and who is not yours. Only then would one know the kingdom of God. He clearly said, “The Kingdom of God is not somewhere up there, it is within you.” Only in the initial “marketing phase” did Jesus talk about taking you to the Kingdom of God. Once enough people had gathered around him, he turned around and said, “The Kingdom of God is within you.” That is the crux of his teaching.

Unfortunately, 99% of the population is missing something so fantastic within themselves. If it was somewhere far away, you may not wish to make the journey. But when it is right here and you miss, isn’t that a tragedy? If the Kingdom of God is within you, you must explore it within; it is as simple as that.

What About Faith?

There are scientific methods that give access to that dimension within you which is the very source of creation; the very body that you carry is created from within. Jesus didn’t have enough time in his life to propound science, so he spoke about faith because it is a quick way. When he said, “Only children will enter the kingdom of God,” he was not talking about little children, he was talking about one who is childlike, one who doesn't have foregone conclusions about everything; unprejudiced.

Whatever conclusion you make, you are bound to be wrong, because life does not fit into any of your conclusions. Neither life nor the source of life will yield to one who has too many conclusions. If you keep that baggage down, it is very simple.

Towards the end of his life, when it was quite certain that Jesus was going to be put to death, the only question his disciples could think of was, “When you leave your body and go to your Father’s kingdom, you will sit on his right-hand side. Where will we be? Which one of us will be on your right-hand side?” Their master – they see him as the son of god – is going to be put to a horrible death, and that’s their question! But just look at the man’s quality – he displayed this quality all his life – no matter which way everybody is pulling him, his mission of establishing what he wants, goes on. So he says, “Those who stand first here will stand last there. Those who stand last here will stand first there.” He destroyed the hierarchy; that this is not about elbowing your way to heaven. In the inner realm only purity works.

Let the spirit of Jesus live!

It is time to look beyond belief systems and look at life the way it is. After all, the source of creation is within you. If you allow it to function, everything will be in harmony; and that is the very basis of his teachings. Jesus’ words have brought much sacrifice, piety and love to the world, but the most important aspect of his life; the crux and the bedrock of his teaching is, “The Kingdom of God is within you.”

If it is within, it is a spiritual process. A spiritual process does not mean a group, cult or fan club. It is an individual seeking, which is the essence of yoga and the spiritual process in the East. Unfortunately, the most crucial elements that Jesus spoke of have been forgotten. It is time to bring back the essence of his words –  not only for a particular group, but for everyone. Let the spirit of Jesus live.

the last judgement comes when you make the last judgement, the final judgement, god is inside, so when god realizes he is judging himself and all is self, then you arrive in heaven, which is here, now, always, before it was "no where" now it is "now here"... tricks of the mind hide and blind you to what is inside... clear your mind, feel your heart.

hello sadhguru,
a deep understanding of jesus' life and purpose of human existence.
Jesus, the eternal Master, is for all ages, all seekers, all seers who are drawn from within.
Abiding in the Kingdom of God is his clarion call to people.
Kingdom of God is nothing but human beings in the full realisation of the Divine, the Abba.

I have some quotes from the article itself.
"Whatever conclusion you make, you are bound to be wrong, because life does not fit into any of your conclusions "
Has the author concluded that? If so, by his own logic, he is bound to be wrong.
"When we say “Jesus”, we are not referring to a man who lived 2000 years ago, but to a certain possibility within every human being."
Who means that? I don't mean a certain possibility or potential in me when I say Jesus. And neither do most of the people in the world. When they say Christ, they mean the historical figure.

The article seems to make a false dichotomy - faith and reason. This is indeed not true. If it were so, we would not have had many of the numerous discussions we've had on this group.

Lastly, even if the greatest teaching of Jesus was about the Kingdom of God in you, he certainly did not use yoga and meditation to 'achieve'that state. That is a gross misunderstanding of Jesus's teachings.

to follow the footsteps of Christ is not easy for He has lived a life that is full of kindness and patience even when people despise Him but He has shown us that even if He is the Son of God, He still walked the earth like all of us then it is still possible to follow a life like His.

The inquiry into truth begins only when you drop all believing. Belief begins in ignorance. Self realization is the goal, and its an experiential reality. You can't derive a conclusion on it, you have to experience it. Whatever conclusion you make, you are bound to be wrong...

Jesus talked about a possibility, he talked his experience, that I am the truth, i am the way and the life... that is the possibility... Its a yogic experience, which jesus had.

As a man, we know many wrong beliefs jesus have... ' Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom – Matthew 16:27, 28. He spoke to some people there, that some of them would live to see the end of the world and the day of Judgement. None so old lives now and since more than 1790 years would have lapsed after all of them died and since the end of world and the day of judgement are yet to come. In Europe in the year 1000 AD many Christians believed in the above statement of Jesus and feared that the end of the world was very near made wide propaganda of this by publishing letters. On learning about this, many Christians went to priests and sought refuge....Expecting fruits on a fig tree at a wrong season and misused his power...by cursing a poor tree and talks about loving the enemies...

Walking over the water and all are some yogic siddhis. Osho in his book 'Zen: The Antidote to All Poisons' mentions from where Jesus learned yoga and meditation, and where he was in that missing 17years of his life.

The Jewish people didn't believe JESUS as the son of God, and they were expecting son of God to come and redeem them from the roman empires and establish a kingdom for israels. They were waiting for it many years not knowing the son of man was amidst them, So JESUS said the kingdom of God is not else where ,it's within you(meaning HE is within them ,the Jews) not to search within individuals. He said to the crowd the kingdom of god is within you , meaning that He was among them.
It was the time when the kingdom of god came with in us ,search of humans, till then and even now human race is seeking for the kingdom of God.
