On June 5, 2018, World Environment Day, Erik Solheim - current Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme and Dia Mirza - Actor and United Nation's Environment Goodwill Ambassador, came together for a conversation with Sadhguru on "Beat Plastic Pollution," UN's theme for this year's Environment Day awareness.
The event was compered by RJ Raunac, the popular RedFM's radio jockey and Sharad. Mohit Chauhan and Sounds of Isha started off the event with two wonderful songs, one being, "The Plastic Song" composed by Nadi Veeras, the Rally for Rivers volunteers who have devoted themselves to making a difference to the environment and reviving India’s lifelines.
The conversation moderated by Dia Mirza, covered the topics - how Rally for Rivers and Beat Plastic Pollution are connected, why UN chose that particular theme, ways to refuse plastic, global solutions for plastic pollution, marrying economy and ecology and the need for a national policy to eliminate single-use plastic.
