Samyama 2018 FAQ
We have currently met capacity for the upcoming Samyama Program, if you have completed prerequisites and waiting on an update on waitlist/reconsideration request, please allow us to get back as and when a spot opens up. No further follow up is needed from your end.
I attended pre-samyama meet in a location outside of US or Canada. I haven’t received any communication from you. What is my approval status?
Please email to the contact mentioned at the end of this FAQ with subject as “Samyama Application Status – <Your Full Name>”. One such sample subject line would be “Samyama Application Status – John Smith”.
By the time I could register, I saw that the registration has reached capacity for my category. What should I do?
Since the registration spots were limited, we followed the first come, first served policy and intimated you about the registration time a few days in advance so as to prepare you for the same. You can join the waitlist and we will be able to invite you again if other applicants cancel and spots become available.
I successfully registered for the program but I haven’t received an email confirming the status. Should I be worried?
You can check the status of your registration any time by clicking on your registration link (a.k.a Samyama Self-Service page) and confirmation email is not needed. Once registered, you can access the same registration page to complete other formalities for registration like booking stay, shuttle, purchasing bedding, clothing, updating visa status etc.
I made a donation and my bank account / credit card has been debited successfully but I saw an error message on the page. Did my donation go through?
The donation was processed fine. However, there was an issue while emailing you the donation receipt for some time and thus the error message you saw on the screen. For some of you, since you retried a few times, it was processed multiple times. We will refund all duplicate donations over the next few days.
I am traveling on the day the registration is set to open. How to reserve my spot?
To be fair to everyone who has applied, filling and submitting the registration form is the only way to reserve your spot. Please see how to make alternate arrangements so that you are able to complete the registration.
I received an email letting me know that I am not approved. Can I know the reason?
The decision about approval or disapproval has been taken after careful consideration of several criteria for each applicant based on the program completion records and the additional information provided by the applicant during and after the pre-samyama meet. Please continue with the practices so you can be better prepared for the next available opportunity.
I would like to volunteer. Can you reserve a spot for me?
The registration to volunteer for the program will open in February. Those who have completed Samyama program will be given priority and volunteers must plan to come for the whole duration of the program to support with the program. Once registration opens, an invite will go out in the newsletter that is sent every Thursday. If you are not receiving Isha newsletters, contact dbupdates@ishausa.org to subscribe to it.
I have a different question. How do I contact you?
When contacting us, it would be helpful if you chose a very appropriate and terse subject that includes your full name.
For eg., “Withdraw application – John Snow” or
“Issue uploading additional documents – Mike Parker” or
“Not receiving emails – Balaji Venkat”.
