Rural Children Go Digital!

The Isha Vidhya School in Villupuram District, inaugurated its new Digital Classrooms on 19th October, 2011. These classrooms were sponsored by both Cognizant Foundation and Everonn Education Ltd, who provided the equipment and content to make this venture possible.

Isha Vidhya Matriculation School in Pathiyapettai village, Villupuram district, inaugurated its new Digital Classrooms on 19th October, 2011. These classrooms have been sponsored by Cognizant Foundation, which funded the entire equipment. Everonn Education Ltd. provided the digital content to the school free of cost. This innovative state-of-the-art computer-assisted learning will take education beyond recitation and memorization and make it a live, interactive process. The classrooms were inaugurated by Mr. S. Madhavan, Chief Executive Officer of Cognizant Foundation.

Isha Vidhya runs seven rural schools across Tamil Nadu with 3500 children, providing high quality education to underprivileged rural children, by establishing high quality infrastructure in rural areas and providing scholarships for those who cannot afford tuition. Cognizant Foundation, which spearheads the corporate social responsibility initiatives of Cognizant Technologies, has funded the establishment of the digital classrooms in all the seven Isha Vidhya rural schools, in order to augment the regular classes, make it easier for students to grasp the concepts taught in their subjects and make learning a more enjoyable experience for the students.
