F rom 4th to 6th of April, Sadhguru visited Chennai for a series of public engagements, which saw him conduct a sathsang for over 4,000 people, consecrate four Linga Bhairavi Yantras, and attend the first match of IPL 2012!

For the first time in over a year, Sadhguru came to Chennai for a string of public events. Drawing on the strength of the meditator base in Tamil Nadu’s capital, Sadhguru’s volunteer’s meet was packed to the brim, with over 4,000 people in attendance! The last time Sadhguru had the opportunity to meet with the Chennai volunteers so closely was after the Isha Yoga program he conducted last year.

Tears of joy rolled down their cheeks as the volunteers sat in front of the Master. With tears, also came waves of laughter as Sadhguru’s jokes hit their mark. Gearing up for Sadhguru’s program this year in August, the Chennai volunteers have their work cut out for them.

The day after the sathsang, Sadhguru attended four Linga Bhairavi Yantra consecrations. Devi’s chants welcomed Sadhguru into the houses which had been decorated like a temple. People’s love and care showed in the meticulousness and detail of the flower arrangements and kolams, as well as the beautifully arranged oil lamps. A powerful experience for all those involved, many people shared that they felt Sadhguru had brought Devi to their home by establishing the yantra that day.

On 6th April, as part of their Founder’s Day celebrations, Sishya School invited Sadhguru to come and share his insights on education, being a founder of three schools himself.

The talk was well received, with all the teachers and senior students in attendance. “The best minds in the country should go into education. Only then we can build a nation of worth.”

Delivering the KIT Thomas Oration held in memory of the founder K. I. Thomas, Sadhguru said: “Unless we get this 1.2 billion nation of people competent, focused and disciplined, we are in for huge trouble. Our educational institutions are floating with reputation and not quality. Teachers should inspire more students to take up the profession. Now, other than a few inspired teachers, the rest of them do not fit anywhere to get into teaching.”

The day ended with an engagement, which was somewhat less official – the first match of the IPL 2012, Chennai Super Kings vs. Mumbai Indians! Due to tight security and regulations, no cameras were allowed in the viewing area, but we have it on good authority that Sadhguru enjoyed the match.
