From Bengaluru to Coimbatore, Giridhar Kamath, a magician, runner and supporter of rural education begins a 400 km barefoot run for Isha Vidhya on Sep 3rd.

On September 3rd, Giridhar Kamath, a 46-year old magician and runner, will begin a barefoot run from Bengaluru to Coimbatore to raise funds and sponsor the education of underprivileged rural children at Isha Vidhya, Isha Foundation’s education initiative.

His 400 km marathon will commence on Sadhguru’s birthday, 3 September, and culminate on his own birthday on 9 September.

In a daunting target that he has set for himself, he will cover 400 kilometers in six days starting from Bengaluru and culminating at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore. A runner for the last five years, Mr. Kamath is passionate about running, completing an 8000 kilometer run, equivalent to the distance between Bengaluru and London, in 12 months last year.

Mr. Kamath, who hails from a small town in Karnataka, is in the business of manufacturing and exporting magic kits across the world. To explore his first love for magic shows, he started out as a magician in 1990s and has over two decades of experience in the magic space. His 400 km marathon will commence on Sadhguru’s birthday, 3 September, and culminate on his own birthday on 9 September. He will celebrate the completion of this run is a unique way - with a special magic show for the Isha Vidhya Coimbatore School children.

Giridhar says, “I want to use my drive for running to fuel a cause greater than any one person. While looking for an avenue to channel this, I came across the Isha Vidhya initiative. Education for rural children is something that is very close to my heart. I have undertaken this marathon because I believe strongly in what Isha Vidhya does.” Through this run, he hopes to raise up to 5 lakh Rs to support scholarships for deserving Isha Vidhya students.

Bengaluru – Hosur – Dharmapuri – Salem – Erode – Coimbatore
