Mrs. Anbumalar is an Isha volunteer from the US who is a mechanical engineer by profession. Among the various outreach projects that Sadhguru has started, the Isha Vidhya schools are very close to her heart.

Some years ago, it so happened that the Isha Vidhya Cuddalore school watchman met with an untimely demise, leaving behind a grieving wife, Gandhi, and their two children.

Apart from playing a key role in the fundraising efforts in the US, she is also a regular contributor herself. Whenever she visits India, she makes it a point to visit the Cuddalore School and is in constant touch with the school administration about the welfare of the school. She often asks about the needs of the more impoverished children and is ever ready to extend a helping hand.

Some years ago, it so happened that the Isha Vidhya Cuddalore school watchman met with an untimely demise, leaving behind a grieving wife, Gandhi, and their two children. She had no one who could help, and the future of her two children seemed uncertain. At that time, Isha Vidhya came to their aid by offering her a job and her children were given free education in the school.

Through Anbu Akka's generosity, Ajith will certainly fulfill his dream some day.

Her son Ajithkumar completed his school education with good marks and joined BSc Microbiology in a private college at Cuddalore. So far, Isha Vidhya had borne his educational expenses. But with an upcoming college education, college fees and other expenses to bear, his single mother's salary was not sufficient.

Hearing about the financial need of Gandhi, Anbumalar came to her rescue and made a donation to meet Ajith's educational expenses. The timely help enabled the boy to continue his studies with a big dream of doing research in microbiology, his pet subject. Through Anbu Akka's generosity, Ajith will certainly fulfill his dream some day. Our Isha Vidhya students are fortunate to have donors who are ready to help them even after they pass out of the school.

Apart from helping Ajith, Anbu Akka has also pledged her support to girl students from single-parent homes. Isha Vidhya is grateful for her and is truly touched by her noble gesture.

Editor's Note: Individual and corporate donors are currently supporting the majority of funding requirements for Isha Vidhya. 64% of the students are on full scholarship and the remaining pay a small tuition fee to cover shortfalls in the cost of running the schools. Isha Vidhya solicits donations for specific needs such as student scholarships (each scholarship costs Rs.15,000 or $240 per year per child) and infrastructure investment, as well general donations which are distributed as necessary.
