Isha Foundation launched a week-long sapling plantation drive across the State on Friday to mark the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Farmers across the State will plant 1.16 lakh saplings on 285 acres of private farmlands in 23 districts including Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Nagapattinam, Madurai and Salem, a press release said. Isha Yoga Center, which issued travel advisories well before the COVID virus was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), has reported that it continues to be a COVID-free zone. Health inspectors from the Public Health Department have conducted regular testing at the Center and have certified that its current occupancy of over 2500, has zero COVID-positive cases. The Center is home to more than 4000 residents, many of whom are currently stranded in different parts of the world owing to the worldwide travel embargo.

Isha Agro Movement (IAM), an initiative to transform Tamil Nadu into a natural agriculture state, organized a 2-day nature farming tour on February 19 and 20 for the farmers of Tamil Nadu. The objective was to raise awareness and visibility for the highly successful tree-based agriculture and multi-tier cultivation models of farming. 55 farmers from different districts of Tamil Nadu came together to visit plantations in Udumalaipettai, Kinathukadavu, Anaimalai and Pollachi areas which have been established under the guidance of Isha Agro Forestry.

Addressing the gathering in Tamil following cultural performances and traditional Pongal festivities at Isha's famed Adiyogi, Sadhguru spoke about the significance of the farmer's festival and said it was time to bring back natural farming practices and traditional variety of crops.
