What is Shivanga Sadhana?

A powerful spiritual practice designed by Sadhguru to bring forth devotion from within and enhance your receptivity to Shiva – the Adiyogi.

You can choose to do the sadhana for a period of 42, 21, 14 or 7 days.

Initiation will be available both online and in person.

You can do the sadhana at home for the chosen duration and culminate online or at the Isha Yoga Center Coimbatore.

Sadhana Details

Eligibility: Open for men & women (aged 8 years and above)

INITIATION

  • Initiation will be available daily from 13 January 2025 to 25 May 2025.

  • A trained Shivanga will facilitate the initiation into the sadhana.

  • You can participate online or in person.

Shivanga Sadhana Kit

Below is the list of items you will need for the initiation. You can arrange them yourself or buy them here:

  • A Dhyanalinga photo - Available for download here

  • A black cloth (approximately 18 inches x 3 inches) for tying on the arm

  • A specially-designed 21 bead Shivanga Rudraksha Mala with a powerfully consecrated Dhyanalinga pendant, a panchamukhi rudraksha mala, an Adiyogi rudraksha bead (received as part of Rudraksha Diksha), a single-bead rudraksha or any rudraksha mala

  • Bhiksha pathra (bowl to receive alms; for men)

  • Vibhuti

SADHANA GUIDELINES

Duration

You can choose to do the sadhana for a period of 42, 21, 14, or 7 days.

Practice

  • Shiva Namaskar, a practice taught during the initiation, should be done with devotion 12 or 21 times a day, either before sunrise or after sunset, on an empty stomach.

  • During the sadhana period, you are recommended to address others as “Shiva.”

  • Dress Code: White or light-colored clothing with a saffron-color (kaavi). Wearing the shawl is highly recommended, but not mandatory.

  • Ask for Bhiksha or alms from a minimum of 21 people and offer it to Dhyanalinga at the time of culmination.

  • Participants who are culminating online can offer money or food to 3 people in need or donate the same amount for Mahashivratri Maha Annadanam.



Please Note:
People with hernia are advised to practice variations of Shiva Namaskar using a cushion or a chair for support.

CULMINATION

In Person

  • Shivanga Sadhakas can culminate in person at the Dhyanalinga in Coimbatore.

  • Culmination is followed by a pilgrimage to the Velliangiri Mountains. If you are unable to do the yatra, you can do Adiyogi Pradakshinas instead.

  • Culmination & Yatra Dates: Every day from 20 February 2025 to 31 May 2025

  • The stay will be in temporary accommodation.

  • You can also culminate with Adiyogi Pradakshinas at Sadhguru Sannidhi Bengaluru.
