Temple Cleaning

An initiative to clean temples and preserve their sanctity as spaces of immense spiritual possibilities

“The ancient southern Indian temples were built based on intricate subjective sciences. These are not places for prayer, but spaces to simply sit and charge yourself with Powerful Energy that enhances Life in a phenomenal way.”

Tamil Nadu Temples

For millennia, the magnificient temples of Tamil Nadu have been the soul of Tamil culture, and the centers of art, history and spirituality of an ancient civilization. Established by sages like Agastya Muni and Patanjali, these temples were not just places of worship but powerhouses of energy. But today, maintenance of these temples has become a challenge.

THE NEED

Thousands visit southern Indian temples annually, leaving discarded water bottles, plastic wrappers, and food waste, degrading the temple premises and experience.
Everything that we perceive through our sense organs can either create filth or wellbeing within our systems.

Therefore, it is crucial that our surroundings, especially the temples which are considered to be sacred spaces and possibilities for wellbeing, offer a pleasant and uplifting experience for seekers.

THE SOLUTION

In an effort to maintain the sanctity of temples and offer the best possible experience to devotees and pilgrims, Thenkailaya Bakthi Peravai frequently organizes Uzhavara Thiruppani (temple cleaning activity) in Tamil Nadu and nearby places, where volunteers come together with a sense of devotion to clean temples.

Schedule

The day begins with Guru Pooja
Volunteers attend an orientation session followed by temple cleaning activity
Lunch is served to volunteers
Volunteers share their experiences and receive updates on upcoming programs
The day ends with Kailasha Vadyam (a musical offering to Lord Shiva)
