Sadhguru opens up about the mind-blowing phenomenon of “downloading” highly evolved disembodied beings into the bodies of living people. Find out more about this extraordinary process, how Sadhguru plans to explore this possibility in the future, and why the world would benefit from it.
Questioner: Sadhguru, I have heard you speak about downloading exalted beings into the bodies of people who are here. Could you explain what this means?
Sadhguru: Right now, we are teaching Yoga and conducting programs in a structured way, but there are other things we can do that are of a completely different nature. Because we took up certain social responsibilities, we have postponed them for a while. I have been thinking of considerably cutting down my traveling and starting something else altogether. Maybe I will spend a part of my time in the Isha Yoga Center in India and a part of my time in the US ashram, but I will mostly sit in one place.
In terms of downloading exalted beings into existing bodies, one group who made serious efforts was the Theosophical Society. They attempted certain occult possibilities, but they could never achieve their goal because it was too grand a plan. They were trying to bring down a very complex being who has been referred to as Maitreya through the ages. In theory, it is possible; but in practice, it became too difficult; so it never happened. We are not thinking of anything like that.
There are many exalted beings who have been constantly behind me to find them a body because they have lost their karmic structures to a large extent, which means they cannot gain a body. To earn a body, you must have sufficient karma. These are very exalted beings, but they still have small bondages. I could release them as they are, but I want to find appropriate bodies for these exalted beings so that we can live in their company for a while. It will be a great boon for the world to have such people.
For some time, I accommodated a few exalted being in my own body, which was absolutely confusing at times for people who lived around me, including Vijji. In one moment, I would be just sitting there, and when she turned around, it was someone else. We did those things for a certain time in preparation of the Dhyanalinga consecration.
Sometime in the future, we may download a few such beings to some of your bodies. It will need lots of preparation and sadhana to make people receptive enough for something like that. They must be strong enough, but not too strong. They must be weak enough, but not too weak. We have to find that balance. That requires a different level of sadhana altogether.
Questioner: But what happens to the person who is already in the body? Will they float around like bodiless beings?
Sadhguru: No, that is not the way. If we want to bring an exalted being into someone’s body, we cannot pull the existing being out and leave them somewhere. We have to dissolve them. It needs to happened in a smooth transition between dissolving this one and getting the exalted being into the body. Otherwise, after dissolving the being, the body will collapse. It is an intricate process that needs an atmosphere of enormous energy and discipline.
To do such a process, the roadshow has to stop; I need to sit somewhere to do certain things. I have to get rooted. All of you need to make up your mind about what we want. If we are really looking at setting up an enlightenment factory, then we need lots of people who are not concerned about their own wellbeing. That takes a different kind of involvement.
Generally, people keep their options open. If it is convenient, they will be there. If it stops being convenient, they will disappear without even telling us. But I have no options. Once I step into it, I am committed no matter what. There needs to be a core group of people who will not keep any options open. Otherwise, it will be just me. There is no other way to make it happen.
If you want to keep the options open, we will just do the roadshow as we are doing right now – going from town to town, not to give them water, but to get them a little thirstier for the spiritual process. But if we want to create a water source, then it takes something else. If everyone creates a conducive atmosphere, a lot will happen; otherwise, it will be less.
How much will happen depends on various situations. If we had to prepare people ourselves, it would take a very long time; so we may import beings for such purposes. But for me, the most important thing is to raise this crop of people to a higher possibility.
