Effect of Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya on Menstrual Disorders

Problems associated with menstruation are commonplace among women of reproductive age and have serious implications for their physical, mental and financial health. Current treatments for such disorders rely on hormone therapies and more serious cases may involve surgery. Hormone therapies are not effective in relieving symptoms in all cases and surgeries can be an extreme measure that pose other challenges. A team of researchers from the Poole Hospitals NHS Trust and the Indiana University School of Medicine conducted a survey of 128 women to assess the impact of yoga-based therapy on menstrual disorders.

Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya (SMK), a 21-minute practice, can offer significant health benefits including relief from menstrual disorders. Here, the researchers gathered surveys before and after doing the practices to assess the benefits.

Menstrual symptoms decreased significantly after regular practice of Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya.

Menstrual symptoms and lifestyle alterations decreased significantly after regular practice of Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya.

People mentioned that dysmenorrhea (painful periods) and premenstrual syndrome decreased significantly after practice. Furthermore, the severity and irregularity of menstrual flow also improved significantly, where the irregularity became close to 0. These findings, in turn, led women in this study mentioning that the need for medical intervention was considerably reduced and work impairment became almost negligible.

This study demonstrates that regular practice of Shambhavi Mahamudra Kriya can significantly reduce the symptoms associated with menstrual disorders.
