Sadhguru: Architecture is just a play of geometry. Creation is fantastic architecture and my architecture is just a small imitation of creation, straight from nature. I am not a qualified architect, but I have designed all the buildings in the ashram. Our buildings stand only because of the perfectness of their geometry, not because of the strength of the material. If you use cement and steel, generally you can make the building whichever way you want because it is the material which holds it together, not the geometry. Here, it is all natural material: brick, lime and mud. It stands only because of its geometry.

Here, the buildings are relaxed – you can even say they are meditating, because there is no tension in the buildings.

Modern buildings are held together by tension. In most buildings, there is a continuous struggle going on between the roof and the force of gravity – gravity wants the building down, the roof wants it up – and one day, gravity will win. Only because the roof material is strong, it holds it up. Here, the buildings are relaxed – you can even say they are meditating, because there is no tension in the buildings. That is why I tell people, “When the buildings themselves are meditating, you should be an easy case.” They are in perfect harmony with the forces of the planet.
