The Wipro Chennai Marathon 2012 took place in Chennai on 2 December at the IIT campus in Guindy. With over 6600 runners participating, it was a fairly spectacular event. The marathon was a great opportunity for Isha volunteers to raise money for their prized cause, Isha Vidhya.

The weather was fine and the race kicked off right on time. Close to 600 of the race participants ran for Isha Vidhya across three categories: 42 km, 21 km, & 10 km. Most of them took on the 10-km run. Several corporates including L&T and Cholamandalam lent their support to the cause and had over 100 runners. The Chennai Trekking Club had 17 runners, some of whom ran the full 42 km course – they would like to participate in the upcoming Auroville Marathon for Isha Vidhya as well. From Isha Yoga Center, Swami Nirakara, who finished the 21-km half-marathon in just under 3 hours, and Swami Udhaaradhi also participated in the race.

Excited about the idea? If you’d like to participate in any sporting event in the world and raise funds for Isha Vidhya, please contact Prabhu Loganathan at prabhu.loganathan@ishavidhya.org.
