The children of Isha Home School displayed their talent and creativity when they enacted Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen – a novel by Upendra Kishore Ray which has also been adapted to film by his grandson, the legendary film-maker Satyajit Ray. Playwright Manasi Subramaniam who adapted the novel for the stage was also a part of the audience at the evening’s event. The lively story of two bumbling musicians who come together for a series of adventures kept the audience – which included Sadhguru himself – filled with both laughter and suspense.

The audience speaks…

It was spot-on, very natural acting. They were just themselves, but at the same time nobody messed up their lines. They were all in tune with each other. It was very lively, filled with jokes and a riveting plot. There were no teachers on stage – it was all done by the children.

It was a memorable night, watching colorful characters come to light. The children were so absorbed by their roles. It has left such an indelible impression that I have started dreaming of an Ashram Musical. There was one tune carried through the whole play which has remained in me as a sweet reminder of sheer life. Even now, I hear the tune being hummed here and there as I go by.
