Linga Bhairavi Offerings

Making offerings to Linga Bhairavi is an opportunity for joyous surrender. Devotional offering of oneself opens up the possibility to benefit from Devi’s abundant Grace and compassion. Offerings can be purchased at the stalls at Devi’s abodes.

Nei Deepam

Nei Deepam

A ghee lamp is lit and offered at Devi’s Trishul to symbolize one’s surrender, and the desire to rise upwards and dispel the darkness within.

Mangalya Bala Sutra

A turmeric-dyed thread with a turmeric root – representing auspiciousness – can be offered onto Devi’s Trishul to appeal for Devi’s Grace, or for the wellbeing of one’s spouse, or anyone else.

Mangala Kriya

Mangala Kriya

For Mangala Kriya, devotees will receive a Mangalya Bala Sutra to tie to Devi’s Trishul, neem leaves and jasmine flowers to offer to Devi in the Linga Bhairavi sanctum, and an Abhaya Sutra to wear on one’s wrist to carry Devi’s Grace with them.

Samarpanam

Samarpanam

Samarpanam can be offered to Devi for the general wellbeing of individuals or families. It can be offered to honor a special occasion, or at any other time. It is offered in the sanctum with an arati, and the offerings are then given back as prasadam.

Kesha Arpanam

Kesha Arpanam

Devotees of any age can offer their hair to Devi. It traditionally signifies freedom from the past. The Indian tradition of a child’s first tonsure is also conducted at Linga Bhairavi (see ‘Chuda Karma’ in ‘Rituals for Children’).

Dhanya Danam Seva

Dhanya Danam Seva

Dhanya Danam Seva is an offering of grains to Linga Bhairavi. Grains grow due to the confluence of five elements and are a bounty that is vital for life. This offering creates elemental wellbeing for the devotee, which is the basis of all wellbeing. Devotees can offer one, two or three types of grains. Different grains are offered by men and women, as is most beneficial for them.

Devi Abhaya Sutra

Devi Abhaya Sutra

Devi Abhaya Sutra allows devotees to carry Devi’s Grace with them. It can be worn by children or adults of any age. When tied on the wrist, it is supportive in fulfilling ambitions, and removing fear and bad dreams. It also stabilizes the energies for the harmonious growth of a child’s psychological framework.

Women should wear it on the left wrist, and men on the right wrist. It should be worn for a minimum of 48 days – one mandala, or physiological cycle, in the human system. It will generally be effective for 3 to 4 months. It is best if contact with soap or chemicals is avoided.

The sutra can be removed by untying it, or severing it by burning it. Do not cut the. After removal, the sutra can be buried under a tree, where the soil is kept wet for a few days. It can also be put in flowing water, such as a river, or a large water body, such as a lake or the ocean. It may also be tied to a flowering tree.

Vastra Seva

Vastra Seva

Vastra Seva is a combination of Devi Vastram, a neideepam, and 2 Abhaya Sutras.

Devi Vastram is a sacred, red cloth consecrated in Linga Bhairavi which is supportive in warding off negative influences and bringing about auspiciousness. It can be kept in your pooja or sadhana space, in front of your house, in your workplace, or in your vehicle. It may also be kept in one’s physical proximity in a briefcase, purse, or suitcase when traveling. It can also be worn around your head or neck. If you wish to wear it on the arm or wrist, women should wear it on their left, and men on their right.
The Devi Vastram will maintain its vibrancy for 90 days if washed in turmeric water or left unwashed. To dispose: tie it to a tree; or return to the Linga Bhairavi office.

Linga Bhairavi Vastram (Sarees)

Linga Bhairavi Vastram (Sarees)

These sarees were offered to Devi and embellished the sanctum for a certain period of time, imbibing Devi’s energies. The consecrated sarees can be worn at any time and are particularly beneficial for women to wear during weddings, or other rituals and special occasions. The sarees can also be hung in any place of sanctity to bring the vibrant and nurturing energies of Linga Bhairavi into the space.
