Kalabhairava Shanti can be done any time after death. However, another process called Kalabhairava Karma can be done within a certain period of time after someone’s death.
“We would like people to live blissfully. If they don’t live blissfully, then at least they should die peacefully. If they don’t even do that, we want to do something for them after their death.”
– Sadhguru
Linga Bhairavi is used as the energy base to conduct certain processes for the deceased.
A process is conducted at Linga Bhairavi, followed by a process at the Nirkaya Sthanam (a specially dedicated pond at Isha Yoga Center). Prasadam of ash from the process is then prepared, offered to Devi, and given to the family. If the family is not present, the prasadam can be couriered within India.
An yearly Kalabhairava Shanti process is also conducted on Mahalaya Amavasya. Mahalaya Amavasya marks the beginning of Devi Pada (a phase of the year considered favorable to access Devi, since the feminine aspects of the planet are more pronounced). The Kalabhairava Shanti process takes place during the midnight Sandhya on this auspicious day.
A photograph of the deceased
Name, date of birth or exact year of birth, date of death or exact year of death (OR) names of both mother and father of the deceased
Individual photo of the deceased taken when the person was alive (Group photo cannot be used for process)
In case of abortion after 48 days or a stillborn infant, a photo of the mother (preferably taken during pregnancy) is needed.
