Interaction with Ghanaian Musician Okyeame Kwame

Ghanaian musician, rap artist, and entrepreneur, Okyeame Kwame, spoke with Sadhguru. Okyeame asked questions about spirituality, cultural identity and history, and conscious rap. He also gave a short performance of one of his songs. Sadhguru spoke about learning from history rather than becoming wounded by it, and emphasized the importance of rising beyond identities and becoming inclusive in response to social challenges.

Celebrating India’s 75th Independence Day

Sadhguru celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day by hoisting the flag in the presence of Adiyogi, along with ashramites, volunteers, Hatha Yoga teacher trainees, and others. The fun-filled Independence Day Dhamaka also included an interaction with Isha Samskriti students and a power-packed special frisbee game with Sadhguru. Sadhguru said on the occasion, “The most important aspect of what happens in this nation in the next 25 years before we reach a centenary of being an independent nation is to be strong, resilient, inspired, and very equanimous human beings.”

The wide-ranging discussion explored topics such as the nurturing human of potential, the emerging importance of pragmatic business leadership, and keenness of attention. Speaking on the role of purpose in one’s life, Sadhguru said, “Setting up your purpose means you're essentially setting up your intention. You should not have any intentions of your own; life is the only intent. You should become part of it. You must ride this life, not creating your own idea of what should happen out of this.”

He highlighted the importance of meditation in jobs with the potential for high-stress situations and expressed hope that the need for defense forces might come down in the future. Sadhguru said, “Soldiers are not some machines or robots; they are human beings. They need to be treated as human beings. The more humane they are, the better soldiers they will make.”
