Rituals for Children

Kathmandu

Anna Prasanam celebrates a child’s transition to solid foods and marks the beginning of the blossoming phase of their life.

Significance

  • It is a wonderful occasion where family and friends can participate in feeding the child his or her first morsels of food in the presence of Linga Bhairavi. This ritual supports the child’s health and growth, since one’s vitality and stability are greatly influenced by the ability to integrate another life (food) into their own.

Ritual Details

  • The ritual is also available for children up to 54 months of age (4.5 years old) who have already made the transition to solid food.

All children’s rituals include:

  • Adorning the child with a blessed garland and tilak.

  • An aura cleansing process to remove negativities.

  • Vibrant chants to invoke Devi’s grace.

  • An offering of samarpanam and arati for the wellbeing of the child and family.

  • Tying of a consecrated Devi Abhaya Sutra to the child’s wrist for their growth and stability.
