Thevarams are Tamil devotional songs composed by the Thevara Moovar or the Thevaram trinity — Thirugnansambandar, Thirunavukkarasar, and Sundarar. These revered Poet-saints of the 7th century created a wave of devotion that swept across southern India. The singing of Thevaram is still an active process in the temples of Tamil Nadu.
Mandiramavadhu Neeru was composed by Thirugnanasambandar when he cured the king’s illness with the use of sacred ash or Vibhuti. This song describes the miraculous qualities of Vibhuti. The poet says, “It is a receptacle of Divine energy, a boon for spiritual seekers”.
