Sadhguruvudan Isha Yoga

Ananda Alai, a “wave of bliss,” continues to sweep Tamil Nadu at a new velocity through “Sadhguruvudan Isha Yoga.” These three-day “Mega Programs”, which are taught by Sadhguru, will take place in Madurai, Trichy and Chennai. Over 10,000 participants will attend in each city and be initiated into the ancient practice of Shambhavi Mahamudra. The first program is currently underway in Madurai.

In Tuesday’s Darshan at the Isha Yoga Center, Sadhguru closed by reminding us that it is the first time in history that such a powerful transmission of hardcore spiritual process is happening at such a massive scale. Those involved in the making of this phenomenon are truly privileged.

Veerabhadra Akhada

Preceding Monday’s Darshan, Sadhguru inaugurated the new space for Kalari, which is one of the most ancient traditional systems of martial arts still in existence today. Training takes place in a specially constructed practice area called “Kalaripayattu” which means battlefield.

Veerabhadra Akhada will offer this ancient martial art to Samskriti and Isha Home School students, residents and guests of the Isha Yoga Center.

One meditator shares her experience of the inauguration:

“The inauguration began with Guru Pooja. Then, to the sound of beating drums, the children began their Kalari performances with synchronized high jumps and kicks, as they bent their bodies in unimaginable ways. Needless to say, we were all stunned as we watched with rapt attention.

After the performances, Sadhguru gave a talk explaining the importance of “Veera,” which in Sanskrit means “fearlessness” or “courage” on the spiritual path. He spoke about how this form of martial arts was developed by Agastya Muni and how it relates to yoga. Finally, he applauded the Samskriti children and acknowledged their parents, mentioning that these children will be valiant, powerful and exuberant beings in this world.”

Teachers’ Meet

Teachers’ Meet is three invaluable days with the Master. For the teachers, whom Sadhguru often calls his own “arms and legs,” March 4th through March 6th was a meet of many revelations and introspections as he spoke of the future of Isha Yoga.

One teacher shares:

The teachers’ meet is an opportunity to do less talking and more listening, a time to absorb and share. A time to re-orient oneself and to brighten the fire within. A time to watch Sadhguru unfold himself, to see the workings behind the action, the brilliance of His vision, to ask questions and soak in unabashed answers... just to Be together.

Even now, already hundreds of kilometers away, a deeper fire burns, a newer freedom shines. More than anything, I just feel that everyone should know what Sadhguru is offering. It should not be just in one center somewhere; it should live and beat in every being's heart and mind.

Things are shifting in Isha, the way we do things and present things will change, but the core of it is still the same. What a privilege it is to witness the profound shades of His visions. What a privilege it is to be a part of creating His vision.

The Day of the Feminine

March 8th marked the 100th anniversary of Women’s Day. At a special conference in Chennai, Sadhguru addressed the Women’s Leadership Board of the Harvard Kennedy School. Below is an excerpt from this talk:

Today we have reached a point in this world where women definitely have much more physical freedom than what they has 100 years ago. But you need to understand that this physical freedom has come into a woman’s life not because of some liberation movement, not because of some enlightenment in the male mind; it has come simply because of technology. Today, many women are sitting here; they have travelled long distances and come. If they had to walk and come, if they had to ride a horse and come, if they had to sit in a bullock-cart and travel these distances and come, there would most probably be no women here except for the local women. But today they can come because of technology. They can get onto a train, get onto an airplane and be wherever they wish to be. So it is technology which is leveling the gender inequality in the world. Today, a woman can go out and work wherever she wants because of technology, not because of any liberalization in the male mind or any liberation movement as such.

I think it is time we name this day the “Day of the Feminine” rather than “Women’s Day” because it is important that the feminine comes forth and plays in the world. If only the masculine plays through the female body, that will be the biggest tragedy. In every human body, both the masculine and the feminine should play. It is only then that you can look upon gender as just nature’s necessity, a certain distinction but not a discrimination.

Right now, the human mind is in a state where we make every difference into a discriminatory process. If this discriminatory process has to go, and we have to appreciate all the differences in the existence, then the unique nature of every aspect of life has to be appreciated and enjoyed.

Sadhguru writes about his experience at the event in his latest “Sadhguru Spot.”

Download Ananda Alai: “A Wave of Bliss”

This video is a glimpse of the Wave of Bliss which swept the state of Tamil Nadu, in South India in the winter of 2010.

To ensure that every individual receives at least “one drop of spirituality” in his lifetime, Sadhguru set forth "A Wave of Bliss" through a series of Mahasathsangs, or large spiritual gatherings drawing hundreds of thousands of people. These Mahasathsangs were an awe-inspiring phenomena of a rare transmission beyond words.

Book: Don’t Polish Your Ignorance

The latest book to be released is “Don’t Polish Your Ignorance.” In this book, Sadhguru speaks to the pain, confusion and the raging thirst of seekers and reminds us that the only thing that lies between the human and the Divine is our own choice to seek the infinite.
