You can do the Sadhana even if you haven't attended any Isha program. It's ok for you to do it. You can start the sadhana on the morning of February 11st so you complete 7 days on the Mahashivarathri day (February 17th)

What if we don't have neem leaves or powder? Can we still do the Sadhana??

3 years 5 months ago

Namaskaram, Its confusing to understand the procedure coming from two different view, would request the Ashram to kindly clarify the pattern of consumption of the Neem + honey, peppercorn + lime juice and then about the goundnuts. In Shivanga Sadhana for men, the same instructions are there, however, there the Neem has to be consumed first, so is the peppercorn +lime and the Groundnuts have to be eaten after the Sadhanas. Can someone in the Ashram please post clear sequence. So that everything is clear at one shot for everyone. Pranams

Yes for the two questions. You have to soak the leaves and peppercorns in honey overnight. If you start on February 4th, on the 17th evening you complete the 14 days.

Please let us know if this needs to be done before sunrise/after sunset. And in the morning if this should be done before or after rest of the kriyas.. Thank you

1. The peppercorns: should they be of a particular color?
2. Should the peppercorns be chewed or swallowed as a whole?
3. The groundnuts: should these be raw or boiled or roasted?

3/7/14 days - if i do for any of these days, do they need to be immediately preceding to Shivaratri (means ending on day of Shivaratri) or can be any 3 / 7 days before Shivaratri? Can i do cycle oc 3 / 7 days multiple time with break of 2 / 3 days in between?

3 years 5 months ago

You start in Feb 11th morning and finish in the evening of Feb 17th.
7 days in total.

3 years 5 months ago

Namaskaram it is not clear if the Peppercorn mixture and the groundnuts are to be consumed before or after the Sadhana. Its clear that one has to eat the neem or vilva leaves before. Kindly clarify this as many meditators are asking this and there is a lot of confusion about the same. Pranams, Samarth (Ishanga/UAE)

Thanks for the reply..one more query, the number of days for sadhana, is it inclusive of Mahashivaratri day and if it is yes, then fasting on that may disturb..please reply

3 years 5 months ago

Vegetarian meals: Fruits, vegetables, legumes, cereals, nuts, seeds, grains... Only two meals per day. First meal after 12 noon.

3 years 5 months ago

Shambho!!! If we take these things, is it not going break the empty stomach condition ???
Thanks

Dear Lorena,
Where are you located? here in the Netherlands it was quite easy to find the powder on Internet. Several Ayurvedic sites and "superfood" sites sell it. regards, Rokus

3 years 5 months ago

Yes you can

3 years 5 months ago

4th. You count the starting day and also count Mahashivarathri day.

3 years 5 months ago

Yes, it is clear. Before this sadhana you have to consume everything, first take the leaves out from honey and chew, then consume the pepper-honey with lemon juice. The peanuts also. Then you do the chant.

Namaskaram. Is it okay for me to take my flax seed supplements after the shivaratri sadhana...after 12pm during meal time, as you suggested. Or are we not supposed to take any supplements during this peroid? Thank you for your help.

For 14 days sadhana, I have to start on poornima i.e 3rd February. Am I correct or is it from 4th?

3 years 5 months ago

I think because of the empty stomach condition of the other practices this should be done after those. That way you ensure making all of them right.

3 years 5 months ago

Hi! I just started the 7 day Sadhana. Could someone please write me the words of the chant? It would help me a lot. Thank you!

3 years 5 months ago

What is the purpose of eating peppercorn and neem leaves or vilva with groundnuts?

3 years 5 months ago

21, 14, 7 or 3 Consecutive Days (Including Mahashivarathri)

3 years 5 months ago

I agree .. That's what I did today !!

3 years 5 months ago

I have done this for 14 days till shivarathri. Can I continue the sadhana.with the same ingredients and chanting. . .missing it for one day was disturbing.Otherwise kindly give some similar sadhana which has the same effect . . . . .

3 years 5 months ago

Namaskaram,
i want to do 7 days sadhana, mahashivaratri is on feb 17th, when should i start my sadhana.......is it on feb 10th or 11th

3 years 5 months ago

As Guillermo mentioned, chanting before sunrise and sunset is not needed. Please finish your regular sadhana such as Shambhavi Mahamudra before taking the peppercorns etc. and doing the Mahashivarathri sadhana.

What if 12 inches black cloth is not sufficient , which is to be tied up on the arm???
Or is it the minimum range of the measurement of the cloth.?

3 years 5 months ago

Do I need to soak the vilva leaves and the peppercorns overnight too? And If I were to start the fourteen day sadhana, it will end on Mahashivarathri right?

3 years 5 months ago

If someone can't fast due to medical reasons... can they still do the sadhana?

3 years 5 months ago

See the reply to Chitrang

2 years 4 months ago

You have to consume any of the ingredients after sadhana and chants only. Whether it be leaves or nuts.

3 years 5 months ago

I think it's not the correct way. Neem, honey, peppercorn, and peanut - all have to be consumed before morning sadhana and not take anything other than lemon honey juice till 12 noon

3 years 5 months ago

I checked the Tamil blog. It's written 14 days prior to Mahashivarathri.

3 years 5 months ago

If Neem leaves & Vilva leaves are not available please take neem powder balls. Neem powder is available at the Ishashoppe in India and US. Check the blog post above for the links to India and US Ishashoppe links.

Take only 2 or 3 leaves and only one handful of peanuts. Consume everything before Mahashivarathri Sadhana.

3 years 5 months ago

We share the same issue in Lebanon - Couldnt find neem (no powder and no leaves) and couldnt find the vilv leaves. Any alternatives?

3 years 5 months ago

I have never joined any of isha program. Can I also do this?

1 year 5 months ago

Yes, by all means you can do the Mahashivratri Sadhana and culminate as mentioned in the guidelines. You should culminate your sadhana in front of a photo of Dhyanalinga.
