On Sunday, 27th July 2014, a group of Isha volunteers in Melbourne, Australia continued the tradition of Running a marathon to support Isha Vidhya’s cause. The small but peppy group participated in the RunMelbourne 2014 Marathon to raise funds and spread awareness about Isha Vidhya. Let’s applaud their wonderful effort to raise funds and spread awareness for a noble cause.

Here’s what they had to say about their experience:

“There was so much colour and so many people in the city for the run - everyone was smiling and motivated to challenge themselves to accomplish something for their own respective causes. I thought
that I would struggle, but it was surprisingly easy with all of us running together. All in all it was a great day. We were able to provide more opportunities for children who need it and we got some exercise while doing it. I even got to experience my first Gujarati lunch afterwards! I'm very grateful to have been granted the opportunity to have experienced this.”

For me this is my first 10km run in my life. The cause of this run has impacted me and is indeed
something special, both mentally and physically. After finishing the race, I felt the excitement and
satisfaction of accomplishing something great that I have not done or experienced before. I feel humbled to be part of this great journey and will continue to contribute in creating the awareness for this wonderful cause.

Even though my legs and body were physically tired I was still able to push through, somewhere there was this motivation to go on and go faster. Support from the volunteers along the course of the run and other runners as well was very helpful and was a reminder of why were we running. By the time I reached the finish line I was quite sore, but couldn’t wipe the smile off my face! This was all for the children of Isha Vidhya!

We wore the Isha Vidhya t-shirts, taking and sharing photos while we were waiting at the
start line. Some of us ran and walked and some completed the run with reasonable timing (less than an hour). It was a fantastic event and I would not hesitate doing it again for the children of Isha Vidhya :) As for us the fund raising for Isha Vidhya still carries on, we still have a long way to go.
