The Making of a Hata Yogi: Looking Back, Looking Forward
In Week Fourteen of our series “The Making of a Hata Yogi,” we bring you a few glimpses of the program so far.
Week 14: The Isha Hata Yoga Teacher Training Program is an endeavor to bring back classical yoga in its purest form and to train teachers who can impart this phenomenally powerful science. In this series, we will be following the participants through their exciting 21-week journey.
At Week Fourteen, we bring you a video with glimpses of the program so far and the participants’ experiences at this stage.
The Hata Yoga School for 2013 began in June and the five months seemed to loom ahead. At first, the participants buckled down to learning the various sub-systems of Hata Yoga and gradually they eased into the practices in a way that was fluid and very beautiful. They began to move from pain to joy... and something much deeper and profound. As the weeks passed, sooner than it seemed possible, the program was already at its halfway mark. We bring you a few glimpses of the program so far.
The participants have learnt so much, absorbed and thrived on the ambience of the Isha Yoga Center. Recently many of them participated in the Shoonya Intensive Program that introduced them to the powerful Shakti Chalana Kriya as well as the Shoonya meditation. Sadhguru had said to the participants: “For your own sadhana, it is truly wonderful if you bring in Shakti Chalana Kriya and Shoonya. That's a fantastic combination of things. And above all, there is simply no substitute for Shoonya. Right now it is being taught in a kind of a package… just giving you a glimpse of it. If people come sufficiently prepared, we can open up that package and make Shoonya into a phenomenal process…so, if you establish Hata Yoga in a powerful way within your system, you could be one of the candidates.”
The halfway milestone brought yet another significant change in the schedule of the participants. At the outset Sadhguru had said, “Right now, if you sit in the Adiyogi Alayam, he is just sitting there, not saying anything. But he will teach more yoga than you and I put together, simply if you sit there with him. If you earn it, within these twenty-one weeks – if you earn it – I may let you sleep there. You must strive for a certain level of perception, because there is more to learn by simply being there than anything else.”
The participants seem to have done well, because from Pournami onwards, the group has been allowed to sleep inside the Adiyogi Alayam. The ladies take their turn from Pournami to Amavasya and the men occupy the space for the next moon phase. Sadhguru told them, half-jokingly, “Have you done enough socializing, is all the gossip over or is it still left? Everything that you have to say, say it, okay… and then become quiet. We won't impose silence on you but you must become silent. Yoga, yoga, yoga, yoga, yoga, yoga, yoga, yoga – you must breathe yoga, nothing else.”
With the intensity of the program being kicked up a few more notches, the participants are gearing up for the final stretch.
The Isha Hata Yoga Teacher Training Program is an unparalleled opportunity to acquire a profound understanding of the yogic system and the proficiency to teach Hata Yoga. The next program will be conducted from 12th July to 6th December, 2014. For more information, visit www.ishahatayoga.com or mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
