Sadhguru forms National Board to steer initiatives under Rally for Rivers

Sadhguru announced the formation of a National Board of eminent persons to steer the various initiatives under the Rally for Rivers. The Board consists, apart from Sadhguru, of Justice Arijit Pasayat, retired Supreme Court Judge, Ms.Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson & MD of Biocon, Mr. Ravi Singh, Secretary General & CEO of WWF, Mr.Shashi Shekhar, IAS, who retired in December 2016, as Secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India and Mr. Pravesh Sharma, IAS, who last served as MD of Small Farmer’s Agribusiness Consortium in the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.

This Board will interface with Government at different levels and other stakeholders like the industries, farmers, voluntary organizations, other experts etc, in the process of evolving actionable framework of policies and programmes, in the areas like augmentation of water availability, water use efficiency and waste water reuse etc,. One of the primary focuses of this Board will be to evolve economically sustainable models that substantially augment farmer’s income.

Sadhguru announced the formation of this Board of eminent persons, in continuation of the month long Rally for Rivers, in which he personally drove across 16 States in October, which saw an unprecedented coming together of political leaders, farmers, industrialists, businessmen, students, professionals, media etc, culminating in the handing over of the draft policy recommendation for revitalization of Rivers in India, to the Prime Minister, Shri.Narendra Modi. The Rally for Rivers initiative of Sadhguru in October this year enlarged into an unprecedented people’s movement with the participation, in various modes, of over 16 crore people, across all walks of life.
