A month after the historic nationwide Rally for Rivers campaign, the central government has set up a group under NITI Aayog to examine the RfR Draft Policy Recommendations document and prepare an action plan for river revitalization across the country. Sadhguru had presented the RfR Draft Policy Recommendations document to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 3 October 2017, a day after the nationwide Rally for Rivers campaign culminated in New Delhi. Secretaries of six relevant ministries including water resources, environment, agriculture, urban development, drinking water & sanitation and rural development are members of the group that will study the RfR recommendations document. Isha Foundation has also signed MoUs with governments of Karnataka, Maharashtra Punjab, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh for river revitalization and increasing green cover in the states. The 760-page RfR recommendations cover all aspects of river revitalization, groundwater aquifer recharge, and renewing organic content in the soil.
