The South Indian towns of Nagercoil and Pondicherry probably have few things in common, apart from geographical location and language. As different as they are in terms of culture and cuisine, these two beautiful places tucked deep in the southern part of India are to witness a great event this very month. A frenzy of preparations is currently underway for the mega event – A Wave of Bliss – about to transform the people of Nagercoil and Pondicherry. The three day Sadhguruvudan Isha Yoga (Isha Yoga with Sadhguru) program is part of a series of Ananda Alai mega-classes that Sadhguru has been conducting for thousands of people across the state of Tamil Nadu.

Surrounded by reservoirs and waterfalls is the small town of Nagarcoil, which derives its name from the centuries old Nagaraja temple in the town center. With a population of over 200,000 people, it is the southernmost town on the Indian mainland and the capital of Kanyakumari District. Nagercoil is known for its breathtaking scenery (owing to the close proximity to the Western Ghats), beautiful beaches, and also as an intersection point of trade, culture and tradition between the eastern and western coasts of India. Nagercoil is not only home to famous monuments such as the Padmanabhapuram Palace, but also to many world-renowned scientists and educationists.

Pondicherry, close to Chennai and fondly known as Puducherry, is a Union Territory with beautiful beaches by the Bay of Bengal . Much larger than Nagercoil in terms of area, the current population of Pondicherry district is over 900,000. A great degree of influence of French culture is still felt in Pondicherry, given that it remained a part of French India until 1954. For this reason, the union territory is also known as “The French Riviera of the East”. Did you know that Pondicherry finds mention in the novel Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, by British author Roald Dahl? In the book, “Prince Pondicherry”, a fictitious character, commissions the construction of a huge chocolate palace, which ultimately melts from the heat of the sun!

Isha Volunteers, of course, have not made any such foolhardy plans, but their ideas are no less grand. Over 10,000 participants are expected to turn up for each of the mega-classes at Nagercoil and Pondicherry. To be initiated into the powerful Shambavi Mahamudra by Sadhguru himself is a blessing of a lifetime, and the volunteers are making sure no stone is left unturned to get everyone to experience this possibility. Sadhguruvudan Isha Yoga classes are conducted in the Tamil language and have already swept several cities and towns of Tamil Nadu such as Chennai, Madurai and Salem, touching the lives of over 100,000 people so far. It has been a deeply touching experience for the witnesses of each of these classes where over 10,000 people were assembled in once place, focusing their complete attention and energies. The mega-classes at Nagercoil and Pondicherry towards the end of June are indeed, eagerly awaited.

Come, join the Wave of Bliss, and do spread the word!

Sadhguruvudan Isha Yoga will be happening in Pondicherry from 22-24 June and Nagarcoil from 29 June – 1 July . Please contact 83000 16000 or 83000 66000 for more information.
