Sadhguru attended the Plantation Conclave hosted by Raj Bhavan on September 17th along with the Hon’ble CM of Maharashtra – Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra – Shri Vidyasagar Rao, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Planning & Forests – Sudhir Mungantiwar, Shri Sachin Tendulkar, and Hon’ble Minister of Rural Development, Women and Child Welfare – Smt. Pankaja Munde.

BJP spokesperson, Shaina NC, lauded the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Vidyasagar Rao as the most proactive governor that Maharashtra has ever had, and Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Devendar Fadnavis, as the youngest and most dynamic chief minister Maharashtra has ever seen. She went on to appreciate the efforts Sadhguru have taken through Rally For Rivers to revitalize the nation’s rivers. She quoted Sadhguru’s statement that economy and ecology must work together and science and politics need to coexist. Sand artist, Shri Nitish Bharati, presented a series of images, depicting the state of rivers and the danger the planet is facing.

Smt. Pankaja Munde, Minister of Rural Development, Women and Child Welfare reminisced that Maharashtra was full of drought, dried up rivers and farmer suicides a decade back when she joined the department as minister, and the challenges they faced in turning the situation around. She also committed her participation and involvement in the Rally For Rivers campaign conceived by Sadhguru. She appealed to everyone to be the change today.

Indian cricketing legend and Bharata Ratna, Shri Sachin Tendulkar, lauded the efforts of the Govt of Maharashtra, who have planted 2.82 crore saplings and have taken the pledge to plant 50 crore saplings in the coming years. He said that we have to understand the importance of not just planting saplings, but also nurturing them and ensuring their survival. He urged everyone present in the room to become an ambassador for the environment and Mother Earth. He expressed his gratitude to Sadhguru, for his tireless work for the nation’s wellbeing, and promised his support to all his efforts. “We need to give something constructive back to the planet, even if it doesn’t fructify in our generation. Our children and grandchildren will be remembering us,” he added. He reminded the media of its responsibility in spreading this awareness to one and all.

Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, on behalf of Maharashtra government, assured Sadhguru, that they will actively participate in this Rally For Rivers campaign, and do whatever is needed to make this campaign successful. He also promised to take this mission that has been gifted to us by Sadhguru to the common man. He added that the Maharashtra Govt has decided to take this mission as their own. He congratulated the Forest Minister for taking the initiative of planting trees in Maharashtra in such an enthusiastic manner.

Sadhguru spoke about the issues facing India’s rivers and how they can be rectified through resolute political action. He also emphasized the need for economy and ecology to come together for a sustainable future. Speaking about the consumption of natural resources in India, he stressed the need to do the necessary compensatory action for our rivers, while we still have the time to make a difference.
