Isha Vidhya volunteers raised close to one crore during the January Mumbai Marathon. For their efforts, the Isha Mumbai team was felicitated by the organizers of the marathon at a function.

For five years now, Isha Mumbai volunteers have been clocking miles at the Mumbai Marathon for Isha Vidhya. This year, the volunteer runners raised close to INR 1 crore (~200,000 USD) through their fundraising efforts. The team bagged the 3rd place in fundraising amongst the 200 NGOs. They were honored at a special “Charity Awards Night,” by the organizers of the Mumbai Marathon – Procam and United Way of Mumbai.

A few other feathers in their cap:

  • The Isha Vidhya team also had the highest number of fundraisers.
  • The award for the “Highest Fundraiser” in the Dream Wizard Category (for individuals who commit to raise a minimum of INR 5 lacs in pledges) was bagged by 16-year-old Isha Jain from the Mumbai team.

While the volunteers are running for a cause close to their heart and not for the sake of awards, it is nice to see their efforts recognized by the organizers of the event. And of course, the award money will go an extra mile in helping Isha Vidhya out. The Isha Vidhya team is deeply grateful to donors and volunteers for their unstinting efforts in making this wonderful result possible. The money raised will literally make the lives of rural kids studying in Isha Vidhya.
